2day i have been have discutions with joe about politcis, econermy, gun trade(we watched lord of war). I will just say a few small things about what i think. (not nessaserly joe)
Free market with a sackable workforce is the best way to cerate a competive market, as it will adjust to the needs.
The closeure of the peugeot plant in covernty is no disaster, it is just removing the last of the car productions in england which will soon be unprofitalble. then all that will be left will be the very efective factorys.
protectionisem is a bad thing ling term, altought sometime short term it can seem a good idea

I'm going to have to say, my preferred mode of governemnt is benevolent dictatorship. if it has to be democracy, let it at least be left-wing with a touch of militancy. is thisjoe carlson you're talking with? if it is, he's not a reliable source of information. He still believes america wonthe War of 1812.

well, there are thousands of meanings/ideas/and discussions about protectionism, global capitalism and how it's affecting our lifes in short and long term.
"In the long run we are all dead", said John Keynes - tha beast who developed Keynesian economics where the goverment plays an active role in economics.
I don't like or know his theory so well, but I like that statement, cause I think you don't find one right theory, and different things work differently regarding to the period of time and the economic situation...
And opinions of economists are always at variance.

I must say I'm running out of Joes, and I'd be happy to have a cup of tea with any new, fresh and up-coming Joe, whatever the real first name hiding behind the nick, and whatever surname accompanying it... Joes rule! By the way, I believe in a free market economy with a touch of good old, Soviet-style governmental interference (needs to be constantly oiled to work). Welcome to Norway!
